The Mobile County Health Department’s Healthy Start Enhanced Program aims to reduce health disparities and promote healthy development for children. Through collaboration with community-based organizations and dedicated health professionals, the program fosters a supportive environment that empowers families to thrive.
Located at the Mobile County Health Department’s Teen Center, trained parent educators offer hands-on education and support to families in Mobile County.
Parents participate in safe sleep classes where they learn proper infant sleeping practices to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Families also have the opportunity to enroll in Strengthening Families Training, provided by the Alabama Partnership for Children, to build strong family relationships and improve child outcomes.
Additionally, the program hosts 12 group connection meetings that cover topics such as maternal and infant health, breastfeeding, mental well-being, healthy relationships, doula services, and parenting resources. These sessions offer valuable guidance while fostering a supportive community through shared experiences.
