Jennifer Leigh Davis & Daniel Allen Burns

Jennifer Leigh Davis and Daniel Allen Burns were united in marriage at Dauphin Way United Methodist Church on April 26, 2014. Dr. J. Gorman Houston III officiated, with assistance by the Rev. Kathy L. Jorgenson.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel A. Davis III. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lynn Burns, of Statesville, North Carolina.

The bride wore a strapless dress designed by Casablanca with cascading soft ivory petals. She carried a bouquet of ivory dendrobium orchid blooms with roses, baby’s breath and white lilies, created by Ron Barrett, of Zimlich Brothers.

Melody Duncan on the violin and Christopher Duncan on the guitar performed music for the ceremony.

The bride chose her sister, Ashley Davis Winters, as her matron of honor and Claudia Mabel Bjork as her maid of honor. Crystal Lashey Cotton, Susan Cooper Graham, Leslie Burns Gibbons, Katie Johnston McCarter, Candice Rebecca Perkins and Angela Boggs Shreves were bridesmaids. Collin Emily Middleton, Rachel Fleming Lewis, Catherine Pond Lockard and Christine Parsons Zoghby were honorary bridesmaids. Averie Ann Winters and Elizabeth Spencer Gibbons were flower girls. Landon Davis Winters was the ring bearer.

The groom chose his father, Jerry Lynn Burns, as his best man. Benjamin Michael Briscoe, Jeffrey Hawk Cochran, Patrick Blake Gibbons, William Roy Kleinschrodt, Matthew Michael Peterson, Daniel Webster Roberts and Steven Logan Rogers were groomsmen.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion. Guests enjoyed delicious Southern food by Tyner’s Catering, which included Southern grits with Crawfish Julie and grilled oysters with Conecuh sausage. The bride’s cake had four layers of buttercream cake and icing with pastel pink and mint green flowers. The groom’s cake was a two-layered white cake with chocolate icing, topped with chocolate-dipped strawberries. Cakes by Judi created both. David Carter Photography captured the event.

Guests danced to the New Groove Show Band on the mansion’s lawn under a tent adorned with cream gossamer fabric and clear lights. The center of the tent held a twinkling chandelier with fresh garland flowing from the top of the tent. Ivory tablecloths, glass lanterns, fresh flowers and burlap bows covered the guest tables. An arbor photo booth provided memorable pictures for the guests throughout the evening.

After spending their honeymoon at the El Dorado Seaside Suites in Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple now resides in Mobile.
