Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival

May 2: Cocktails with the Critters

Bluegill Restaurant • 3775 Battleship Pkwy, Spanish Fort.
6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Feast on tasty hors d’oeuvres and cool beverages while listening to live music by Eric Erdman. There will also be a silent auction featuring local art, jewelry, home goods and more. Tickets: $50 in advance, $55 at the door.

May 2 – 4: “Matilda The Musical”

Henry George Park • Fairhope
7:30 p.m. Eastern Shore Repertory Theatre’s 6th annual Theatre on the Bluff performance is the Tony Award-winning musical inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl. Patrons should bring their own blanket or lawn chair, and picnics are encouraged. Tickets: $15 – $30.

May 3 – 4: Gulf Coast Hot Air Balloon Festival

Foley Soccer Complex 
Take a tethered ride or sit back and watch hot air balloons decorate the skies of Baldwin County. There will also be carnival rides, arts and crafts, live entertainment and a performance from the Disc-Connected K9’s Frisbee Dog Show. General admission is free; tethered balloon rides range from $15 – $20.

May 4: Bald Eagle Bash

Tonsmeire Weeks Bay Resource Center • Fairhope
​4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Top local chefs will showcase their culinary twists on fresh Gulf seafood at this benefit for the Weeks Bay Foundation. Chow down on delicious seafood dishes and enjoy live music from The Red Clay Strays. Tickets: $45 in advance, $50 at the gate. Kids 10 and under are free.

May 11: Creekfest

Tricentennial Park
10 a.m. – 2 p.m. This free family-friendly celebration includes a cane pole fishing tournament for ages 16 and under, live music, food, kayak rides, door prizes and educational exhibits.

May 12: Mother’s Day Evening Garden Concert

Bellingrath Gardens and Home • 12401 Bellingrath Gardens Rd., Theodore.
5:30 p.m. Treat mom to something special with the Mobile Youth Symphony Orchestra’s annual concert at Bellingrath Gardens. Bring lawn chairs and a picnic supper to enjoy during the concert. Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase. Concert is included in the admission to the gardens.

May 16: White Linen Night

Eastern Shore Art Center • 401 Oak St., Fairhope
7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Dress up in your favorite white linen for this event featuring fare from local restaurants, live music from The Red Clay Strays, an exciting live auction and a special beer brewed by Fairhope Brewing Company. Tickets: $75

May 17 – 19: Hangout Music Festival

Gulf Shores
Music lovers from all over the U.S. flock to the beach to see performances from some of the hottest current musicians including Travis Scott, The Lumineers, Cardi B, Vampire Weekend, Diplo, Khalid, Hozier, Judah & the Lion, Walk the Moon and more. 3-day General Admission: $319

May 17 – June 2: “Guys and Dolls”

Chickasaw Civic Theatre • 801 Iroquois St
Sing along to classics like “Luck Be a Lady” during this musical set in New York. Tickets: $18 for adults, $15 for students and seniors

May 25 – 26: Thomas Rhett

The Amphitheater at The Wharf • Orange Beach
The country music star and songwriter takes the stage with special guests Dustin Lynch, Russell Dickerson and Rhett Akins. Tickets: $31 – $91.
