How They Met
Nick and Courtney met in New York City in 2020 while living and working there. When the world shifted during the pandemic, they took the opportunity to work remotely, packed up Courtney’s Jeep, and set off on a road trip through the South.
For Courtney, a Jersey girl, it was a firsthand introduction to the heart of Southern life. Nick shared the places and people that shaped him from learning Southern cooking from Nick’s Nana and Pop to hearing family stories passed down from Nick’s great-grandmother, Granny. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
In 2021, they returned to New York City, where they continue to live and work, Nick as an attorney at Milbank LLP and Courtney as an advertising executive at The Washington Post.
How He Proposed
After a weekend in Oxford, Mississippi for a law school reunion at Ole Miss (Hotty Toddy!), Nick surprised Courtney with a trip to Charleston, South Carolina, and a stay at The Dunlin Resort.
Charleston holds a special place in their hearts, it was the starting point of their unforgettable Southern road trip back in 2020, and the city is filled with some of their most cherished memories.
On the morning of March 20, beneath century-old oak trees along the peaceful banks of the Kiawah River, Nick got down on one knee and asked Courtney to marry him. It was a magical and joy-filled moment- one they’ll cherish for a lifetime.
Later that week, they returned to New York City with full hearts, where they celebrated their engagement with both of their families.
