A Mobile family enjoys a dip at the turn of the last century

Easy access to water during Alabama’s sweltering summer heat is just one of the many perks of living along the Bay. For residents in the early 1900s, swimwear included shoes, stockings and bonnets for women, while men wore suits that covered much of their torsos. By the 1930s, men were going topless.
