Rustic Romance

European sophistication amid the backdrop of Baldwin County’s gorgeous countryside is ideal for an intimate daytime gathering. Blend country casual with French finery using rich jewel tones and delicate gold details amid towering oak trees on your special day.

Mixing well-known favorites, such as garden roses, ranunculus, peonies and dusty miller, with more unique elements, such as eucalyptus, thistle and scabiosa pods, gives this loose, unstructured bouquet (T&MK) the look of freshly picked wildflowers, straight from the field. A pale yellow cushion cut diamond is a subtle way to break from the traditional engagement ring (Estate Jewelers of Fairhope) while maintaining an air of sophistication.

An eclectic mix of wildflowers fashioned together with twine for a boutonniere (T&MK) stands out against a gray suit. It is the perfect complement to the bride’s bouquet.

Left, a handmade twig arbor adorned with greenery and garden roses frames the ceremony space. Right, an elegant off-white wingback chair (Room Service) creates a casual, sophisticated sitting area perfect for photos. Brittany, the beaming bride, wears an ethereal chiffon gown (Saja, Bella Bridesmaids) and eucalyptus headpiece (T&MK), while Sam sports a perfectly fitted suit accentuated with an ashen gray tie (G. Harvell).

Rose gold calligraphy (Southern Calligraphy) stands out against simple white invitations (Victoria Austin Designs). Hand-torn deckled edges and an imprinted wax seal are charming finishing touches.

Rustic farm tables and chairs (Blue Rents) are elegant choices. A simple linen table runner (La Tavola) is accentuated with old-world details. Touches of gold and green in the place settings (Blue Rents), place cards (Victoria Austin Designs) and florals (T&MK) coordinate with the wedding stationery.

Austin and Butler chose a favor that embraced the rustic theme and Fairhope’s local, unique offerings. For this easy DIY, fill craft-store jars with jam from a local farm (which can be bought in bulk). A custom tag (Southern Calligraphy) personalizes the keepsake for guests. For your exit, if you’re planning for guests to throw rice, lavender or confetti, consider  packaging it in linen satchels, which can be found at craft stores and are easily personalized.

A delicately frosted cake accentuated in rosemary, blackberries and figs makes for a beautiful, simple centerpiece.
