July 3 – 4: Grand Bay Watermelon Festival

Odd Fellows Festival Park • Grand Bay

3 p.m. – 7 p.m., Tues.; 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Wed. A local tradition since 1973, this festival offers something for the whole family. Enjoy arts, crafts and family entertainment and chow down on barbecue, hamburgers and ice cold watermelon throughout the day while the kids explore the large children’s area. Admission is free on Tuesday and $5 on Wednesday.

July 4: 4th of July Celebration

Cooper Riverside Park • Downtown Mobile

2 p.m. – 10 p.m. On the promenade overlooking the Mobile River, there will be family activities such as cornhole, a sidewalk chalk competition and more. For only $5, children can have unlimited access to a massive Tropical Water Slide. In addition, GulfQuest National Maritime Museum exhibits will be open from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. for just $5 per person. The Galley, located inside GulfQuest, will be serving up hamburgers and other summertime fare for sale. The evening will culminate with the City of Mobile’s spectacular fireworks display, backed by the Mobile Pops.

July 4: GulfQuest 4th of July VIP Extravaganza

​GulfQuest National Maritime Museum • 155 S Water St.

7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Catch the city’s spectacular fireworks display from GulfQuest’s private balcony! In addition, guests will enjoy music from the Mobile Pops, beer, wine and heavy hors d’oeuvres. Tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for children under 21.

July 4: Fireworks on the Fantail

USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park

7:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. Celebrate the nation’s birthday with a fundraiser for the USS ALABAMA Battleship Foundation. Enjoy live music by the 1940s band Swing, a barbecue dinner, beer, wine and specialty cocktails, ice cream buffet and fireworks from the decks of the USS ALABAMA. Tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for children.

July 15, 22, 29: Summer Classic Movie Series

Saenger Theatre • 6 South Joachim St.

3 p.m. On Sunday afternoons, head to the Saenger for matinee screenings of classic films including “Casablanca, ” “Top Gun” and “Steel Magnolias.” Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for seniors and children 12 and under.

July 20 – 22: Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo

Dauphin Island

The three-day rodeo features 30 categories with first, second and third place prizes in each. Cash prizes will be awarded for king mackerel, speckled trout and big game jackpots, and one master angler will be crowned. Fishermen and spectators will enjoy a liars’ contest and live music throughout the weekend.

July 21: Dauphin Street Vault

Downtown Mobile

10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Join beginner and elite pole vaulters as they launch themselves high in the sky on the streets of LoDa. Early bird registration is $40; after July 9, registration is $60.

July 25: Bay Bites Food Truck Festival

Cooper Riverside Park • Downtown Mobile

5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Food trucks, cold beer, lawn games, live music by Roadside Glorious and riverfront views – all for a good cause. Tickets are $15 through July 8, $20 if purchased July 9 – July 24 and $25 at the gate. Ticket includes three drink tokens; food will be available for purchase separately. Proceeds benefit Mobile Baykeeper.

July 29: Dave Matthews Band

​The Amphitheater at The Wharf • Orange Beach

8 p.m. Sing along to all your Dave favorites at this rescheduled summer concert. Tickets start at $85. Note: All tickets for the postponed May 27 show will be honored for this new date.

July 30: Cheers to Children

El Papi • 615 Dauphin St.

6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. This benefit for the Child Advocacy Center features delicious hors d’oeuvres, a wine tasting, silent and live auction and live music by Harrison McInnis. Cost is a $35 donation.
