Elizabeth and Daniel’s wedding was a scenic waterside celebration that paid homage to home, the coast and their love story. The couple met years earlier at an Alabama football game in Atlanta, hit it off immediately and began dating shortly afterwards. When it came time for the engagement, Daniel chose a day right before Christmas, getting down on one knee in a private proposal. Afterwards, he hosted a surprise party full of family and friends.

Elizabeth and Daniel both agreed that they didn’t want to wait to get married, so the couple planned their wedding in just four months. On a Saturday afternoon in early May, guests gathered at the Helmsing family bay house, an idyllic and deeply meaningful setting for the festivities. Inside, the bride got ready with her bridal party before putting on her wedding gown, a custom Suzanne Perron St. Paul dress with an elegant halter neckline and sequin details. The bride shared first looks with her father and groom before the ceremony. On the front porch, a string ensemble played as the bridal party processed down the aisle. The bride, escorted by her father and carrying a large orchid bouquet, met her groom under a large arch decorated with palms, orchids and greenery. After the vows, the couple shared their first kiss as husband and wife before going out to ring the bell on the property in celebration.

The reception in the bay house’s front yard near the pier was designed to mirror the family retreat’s fun, coastal decor. In contrast to the overcast weather, the colorful decorations were perfectly warm and vibrant. A tent over the sand shores leaned into the feeling of being on the water, while the coral dance floor, sunny yellow bar and hanging lanterns emphasized the playful aesthetic. Abundant florals from Wildflowers filled the area, flown in from across the world for the occasion, and seafood was the highlight of the day’s menu. After sharing a first dance, the newlyweds were joined on the floor by their guests. As night descended, lanterns under the tent lit up the night and glowing leis were passed to the crowd as the dancing continued. Afterwards, the new Mr. and Mrs. Haas exited in a shower of rose petals, riding away on a golf cart decorated with florals and marking the end of a fairytale day.
