Sara describes her and William’s love story as being tied together by several invisible strings. Despite growing up on opposite sides of the Bay, often being in the same place at the same time and even having mutual friends throughout high school and college, their paths didn’t cross until they were set up on a date just a few years ago. The rest fell right into place.
The couple incorporated one of their invisible strings as the backdrop of their celebration: The Grand Hotel, a place each grew up frequenting before they knew each other. On a bright spring day, the couple married on the grounds of the hotel, tucked under the beautiful oak trees overlooking Mobile Bay, with their guests watching on. The bride wore afull-lace Monique Lhuillier ballgown with several additions to make it uniquely her own, paired with a cathedral-length, lace-trimmed veil. Just as the couple began their vows, a monarch butterfly flew through the gathering, an animal long considered a symbol for the bride’s late grandmother, Mimi. From there, the joy spread through the rest of the festivities.
At the reception, guests enjoyed drinks, food, music and dancing under soft lights, flowers and greenery in the ballroom. The couple shared a romantic first dance to “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” by Frankie Valli, a favorite of theirs, after which the custom-wrapped floor filled with guests. After several hours, Diet Coke and truffle fries — staples for the bride — were served, and the bride and groom danced with their guests to “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life,” even attempting the “Dirty Dancing” lift and keeping the energy high late into the night.
