PEACH AND HEIRLOOM TOMATO SALAD AT THE HUMMINGBIRD WAY
“The Hummingbird Way provides perfect fare before a concert at the Saenger. We tried several appetizers like the fried okra and marinated crab claws, both of which were excellent, but the Chilton County peach and heirloom tomato salad was the winner of the night. It was light and fresh, with great flavors. Though I was initially hesitant to try the crab cake, assurances from the waiter that it was solid jumbo lump convinced me… and he didn’t lie. It was delicious.” – Jay Weber, Executive Vice President, Baldwin County Executive, ServisFirst Bank

FRIED ICE CREAM AT LA COCINA MEXICAN RESTAURANT
“Who knew that the fried ice cream at La Cocina could be so good? The creamy vanilla ice cream had a crunchy coating and was drizzled with chocolate syrup. You know good ice cream when you taste it. Reluctantly, I shared it with the rest of the dining party. That dessert was a great way to top off a delicious meal. I am not sure quite how they do it, but they do it well.” – Vicki Davis, Circuit Judge, 13th Judicial Circuit, Mobile County

LEMON BUTTER CHICKEN AT SUNSET POINTE
“If I’m ever in the mood to have a wonderful dinner and watch the sunset over the Bay (this is often my mood) then I go to Sunset Pointe. We start our meal with an appetizer. For my main course, I usually choose the lemon butter chicken. The meat is sauteed in these simple, yet savory ingredients and served with the house vegetable and house starch. The chicken simply melts in your mouth, just like butter. A key lime pie martini in a glass lightly rimmed with pie crust is the perfect way to end a delicious night. I can’t tell you how good it is.” –Mary Shannon Hope, Portfolio Manager and Operations Manager, Leavell Investments

RIBS AND MAC AND CHEESE AT RODGERS BAR-B-Q
“I moved to Mobile 30-plus years ago and had somehow missed eating at Rodgers Bar-B-Q in Toulminville… until now. They have become famous for their ribs and now I know why! The meat was super tender, the taste was a perfect combination of smoke and seasoning, and the sauce (on the side) was not overpowering. The mac & cheese was killer, too. The Rodgers family really has it goin’ on. Check ‘em out!” –Phil Proctor, Musician and Social Studies Teacher, McGill-Toolen Catholic High School
