On January 25, 2014, Brittany Elizabeth Edwards and Michael Daniel Leahy celebrated the sacrament of marriage on the campus of Spring Hill College at St. Joseph Chapel. The Rev. Monsignor Stephen E. Martin officiated the Catholic wedding mass.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Karen Edwards and Mr. David Edwards. The groom is the son of Mrs. Joy Knodel and Mr. Michael Leahy Jr.
The bride wore a strapless trumpet-style dress of ivory satin and delicate tulle designed by Maggie Soterro. The bodice was enhanced with embellished lace and jeweled beading. Her headpiece and cathedral-length veil were handmade and trimmed in beading to complement the sparkle of her dress. The bride carried a bouquet of deep red and fuchsia gerbera daisies, roses, tea roses and tulips, created by Belle Bouquet.
The bride’s sister, Kayley Edwards, was her maid of honor. Marisa Larison, Jamie McCormack, Melissa Urban and Rachel Urban served as bridesmaids. Emma Smith accompanied as the junior bridesmaid, and Autumn Forrest was the flower girl. The bridesmaids wore strapless, eggplant-colored dresses of satin and carried smaller variations of the bride’s bouquet.
The groom’s best friend, Sean Naylor, was his best man. Taylor Dunn, Andrew Forrest, Mark Craver and Dakota Roberts were groomsmen. Ethan Roberts accompanied as the junior groomsman, and Brennan Roberts served as the ring bearer.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Byrne Memorial Hall, also on the campus of Spring Hill College. Guests sipped on beer, wine and champagne and dined on crab cakes, pasta and caprese skewers, amongst other favorites.
Cakes by Judi created the three-tiered wedding cake made of delightful strawberry cake with ivory buttercream icing, decorated with a vintage floral design. The decor was a blend of classic romance and 1920s glamour.
The couple traveled to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, for their honeymoon.
