Reception at the Hallet-Irby House
Historic venues, odes to family traditions and sentimental details made Emma and Turner’s wedding a moving and memorable occasion. The bride and groom met in middle school and remained best friends until college, when they started dating. For their wedding, they set out to honor their families and the moments that shaped their relationship.
The bride wore a satin gown with covered buttons, accessorized with heirloom pieces. She wore her late grandmother’s brooch as a necklace, as well as her wedding band, honoring the over 70 years her grandparents were married before her grandmother’s passing just a few months before the wedding and giving her late grandmother a special tribute during the weekend.
Ashland Place United Methodist Church holds significance to generations of the bride’s family. It was the same church the bride’s parents and aunt and uncle were married in, and the place the bride and her twin brother were christened, leaving no other option to host the happy occasion. The church was decorated with flowers as the bride processed down the aisle, holding a bouquet adorned with an heirloom silver holder.
After the ceremony, all went to the Hallet-Irby House for the reception. The blue and green color scheme was accentuated by greenery and white florals decorating the venue. Food was served off assorted china plates to honor the history of the house, and silver and candlesticks added stylish sophistication to the atmosphere. Guests and the newlyweds enjoyed drinks and dancing in the courtyard until the new husband and wife’s exit to the vintage Model T.
