How They Met

Our story began unexpectedly at a co-worker’s 60th birthday party. I had worked with his mother since 2009 and only knew she had a daughter, so I was surprised when she was escorted in by her son, Eryc! Later that evening, we exchanged pleasantries, and although he was invited to join us afterward, he never made it. At the time, it felt like nothing more than a brief introduction.

Not long after, I was invited on a girls’ trip to Crab Island for that same co-worker’s daughter’s birthday. Before the trip, Eryc reached out to make sure I was comfortable with him attending, which I truly appreciated. That weekend, we connected effortlessly talking, laughing and enjoying the day on the water.

We made plans to go out over Labor Day weekend, and although our first date was wonderful, the timing wasn’t quite right, so we chose to remain friends.

Eventually, Eryc asked me to be his girlfriend through a thoughtful puzzle and after his Air Force retirement party, we made it official.

What started as a simple introduction turned into something truly meant to be.

How He Proposed

One day, he asked me to take a few days off from work without giving any details as to why. I had no idea what he had planned, but I soon found out that Eryc had surprised me with a trip for the two of us to the beautiful island of Aruba.

On the morning of the proposal, we started our day snorkeling in crystal-clear waters, even swimming with sea turtles. It was already such an incredible experience, and I remember thinking the day couldn’t possibly get any better.

Later that evening, Eryc took me to Eagle Beach for what I thought was just a romantic sunset picnic. The setting was absolutely breathtaking. The company that arranged the picnic asked if they could take a few photos of us for their website, and we happily agreed.

After the photos, we walked back to our picnic setup, where I noticed a message in a bottle waiting for me. Inside was a heartfelt letter from Eryc, describing the moment he realized he had fallen in love with me.

As I finished reading the letter, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

Of course, I said “yes.”

We spent the rest of our trip celebrating and taking in the beauty of Aruba together. It was the perfect beginning to our forever!
