June 14, 2026 // Ceremony and reception at Mobile Museum of Art
Joy and Cedric’s June wedding day was rooted in faith and paid homage to family and Mobile’s history. The bride’s aunt, uncles and grandparents were all married in June, as were the groom’s parents, and the couple carried on the tradition.
When getting ready, the bride wore her Azalea Trail Maid pantaloons, complete with new custom pockets inspired by her old pockets and redone to showcase her new initials and a small replica of her wedding dress. The bride then changed into an all-lace wedding gown, chosen to match the lace she would later wrap around her bouquet, her something borrowed from her grandmother’s wedding day.
Before the official ceremony at Mobile Museum of Art, the couple held an intimate prayer and unity lighting at Aimwell Baptist Church, the bride’s childhood church and where her grandparents and aunt had been married. The moment, presided over by the bride’s family’s longtime pastor, started the day on a faith-filled note before all headed to Mobile Museum of Art.
Floor-to-ceiling windows let in natural light as the bride walked down the aisle with her father to her groom awaiting her under an intricate floral archway. As the couple said their vows, a crowd of family and friends watched on, surrounding the new husband and wife with love and support.
After the cocktail hour, the couple made their grand entrance into the reception in a festive second line, carrying custom umbrellas. The band played a song from Tuskegee University, where the couple first met, followed by a song referencing Mobile, marrying the two worlds in a blend of music that gave way to dancing through the night.
