Reception at Fort Conde Inn

Kate and Frank’s wedding day was a celebration of marriage, a decade of love and years of friendship together. The couple attended St. Paul’s Episcopal School together, becoming friends on a school-sponsored trip to Rome and eventually dating. Although cloudy weather and a rain prediction preceded the wedding date, a sunny and 75-degree December Saturday greeted the soon-to-be husband and wife.

Memories of Baccalaureate, Awards Day and years of music class performances on the Red Steps made for a nostalgic and heartfelt ceremony in the church where the couple shared childhood experiences. The bride wore a strapless jacquard dress, accessorized with a Brussels lace veil that was passed down from the groom’s great-grandmother. The couple said their vows in a heartfelt ceremony officiated by Brad Clark, the bride’s godfather.

At the Fort Conde reception, the couple shared a first dance to “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)” by James Taylor, after which the dance floor opened for all. Dancing, singing and laughter dominated the night, with the new husband and wife even taking to the stage and dancing and singing to “All Star” by Smash Mouth, a callback to the couple’s stint as Shrek and Fiona in the St. Paul’s Players production of “Shrek the Musical.”

After the festivities, the Auburn alumni newlyweds exited to a flurry of Auburn shakers, with the brother of the groom donning an Aubie costume to stand in for the real mascot, who was busy overseeing Auburn commencement that weekend. The couple then rode off in their blue getaway car, embarking on their honeymoon in St. Lucia.
