Lauren and Ethan’s story is proof that true love comes back around. Friends in middle and high school, Lauren and Ethan lost connection after graduation, with Lauren attending the University of South Alabama and Ethan attending the Merchant Marine Academy in New York City. Five years later, Ethan reached out to Lauren through a mutual friend, wanting to reconnect. Ironically, at the time, Lauren was at a Taylor Swift concert listening to “Welcome to New York,” the first in a series of subtle signs that their relationship was meant to be.

The couple was married on May 23, a nod to the meaningful 23s present throughout their relationship. The couple’s first date and first kiss and Ethan’s graduation all occurred on the 23rd of each month, and, fittingly, Ethan proposed on November 23. Family, friends and loved ones gathered at Christ the King Catholic Church for the afternoon ceremony. Colorful florals decorated the church as the couple recited their vows.

After the ceremony, guests traveled to The Apiary for a cocktail hour. The bride, a kindergarten teacher, had her class draw her dress and her groom’s suit and write advice for the couple, all displayed at the reception venue. Guests enjoyed playing cornhole on boards custom-painted by the bride and groom and sipped on the couple’s signature cocktails — a white peach margarita and a homemade old fashioned— before the newlyweds’ entrance. After the first dance, guests hit the dance floor. All ate a wide array of food, from boudin balls to Cajun seafood pasta. The couple then cut the wedding cake, decorated with florals that matched the applique on the bride’s dress and surrounded by the bridesmaids’ bouquets, and the groom’s cake, which represented Ethan’s love for duck hunting. The energy remained high throughout the night, reflecting the joy of loved ones coming together to celebrate.
