On Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, Leigh Elizabeth Lancaster and Frank Groom Terrell III, were united in marriage at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mobile. The Rev. John H. Riggin and Father Bry W. Shields officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bradford Leon Clark and Mr. William Robert Lancaster and granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Leo Purvis Jr. and Mrs. Clarence Murray Lancaster. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Groom Terrell Jr.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory gown from Monique Lhullier’s Bliss collection with a lace scoop neck top, organza skirt and sweep train. She also wore her mother’s lace veil. The bride’s hand-tied bouquet consisted of gardenias, roses and hydrangeas.
The bride chose Mary Katherine Brown as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Allison Thompson Lancaster, Colleen Terrell Comer, Claire Terrell Wilson, Amelia Taplin Hinton, Emily Anne Kopf, Susan Will Purvis, Carrie Cox Stuart, Jean Evans Stalcup, Sarah Cummings Smith, Mary Kathryn Thomas and Anna Nance Wohrman. Marion Louise Hutchison, Rosemary Bender Wilson and Margaret Brady Wilson were flower girls.
The groom was attended by his father, Frank GroomTerrell Jr., as his best man. Groomsmen were Bradford Leon Clark, William Purvis Lancaster, Joshua West Lancaster, Peter Carelton Martin Jr., James Keno Huffstutler Jr., Richard Goodman Alexander Jr., James Tunstall Inge Jr., Travis N. Dorland, James Harris Oppenheimer, Mark Addison McDaniel Jr. and Brandon Roger Bissenger. Ushers were Cayce Sherman, Dalton Nix, John Nix, Matt Zarzour, Dawson McGough, David Wilkerson, John Allgood, Neal Collins, Bailey McDonough, Bryan Sirmon and Jay Martin.
Catherine Louise McPhillips, Agnes Lee Bender and Aurelia Benton McMahon read during the service, and Julia Elizabeth Martin and Lyle Emory Hutchison IV served as program attendants.
A reception followed at the Battle House Hotel in the Crystal Ballroom, featuring the music of the Tip Tops. Dennis Harris, of Zimilich the Florist, beautifully decorated both the reception ballroom as well as Courtyard Manor the previous evening with an array of floral arrangements and bouquets, using all of the bride’s personal favorite foliage. Shawn Christiansen, of Southern Sweets Cakes and Confections, provided a gorgeous, delicious cake consisting of both amaretto and hazelnut crème. The couple traveled to Rio de Janiero and Buzios, Brazil for their honeymoon. They currently reside in Mobile.
