Ceremony at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception
Reception at the Crystal Ballroom at The Battle House Hotel
Temple and Cole’s wedding was a timeless celebration with their loved ones. The couple met on a blind date arranged by a mutual friend. Their connection was instant, and the groom proposed a year later at The Grand Hotel.
Four pillars of the couple’s relationship — faith, family, food and music — guided the wedding planning. The Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception held special meaning as the church where the bride’s parents married in 1987. One of the available Saturdays happened to be their 39th wedding anniversary, bringing the venue’s significance full circle.
On her wedding day, the bride got ready with her bridal party in the hospitality suite at the Battle House Hotel. She wore the same Christian Dior peignoir set that her mother wore on her wedding morning before changing into her drop-waist silk organza ballgown and a tulle wrap. She accessorized with a pearl pin, necklace and earrings from her mother.
Elegant white florals decorated the cathedral and the opening notes to “Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring” sounded as the doors opened and the bride entered on the arm of her father. The wedding Mass highlighted the importance of the sacrament, setting a reverent tone for the day with Latin hymns, a full choir and a presentation of flowers to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
After the Mass, guests took the trolley to the Crystal Ballroom at The Battle House Hotel, the bride’s dream pink reception venue. All enjoyed signature cocktails — a pink grapefruit spritz and an Italian margarita — and passed hors d’oeuvres before the newlyweds’ entrance. Guests swooned over the husband and wife’s first dance to Benson Boone’s “Forever and a Day,” a special song throughout their relationship. A buffet, which included a mashed potato bar as an ode to the bride’s love of potatoes, kept guests energized for hours of dancing in the ballroom.
Later in the night, the parents of the bride shared a dance together in a special tribute to their wedding anniversary, with their seven children joining them on the dance floor. Following the late-night snack of truffle tater tots and sliders, guests got ready for the exit as the newlyweds shared a private dance to “Tremble” by Lauren Daigle. A flurry of confetti greeted the new Mr. and Mrs. Tomberlin as they made their exit to their 1962 Rolls-Royce.
