THE BEEF PLATE AT ALOHA MADE BBQ
“I recently dined at Aloha Made BBQ, a hidden gem located in Fairhope. I had a few of their plates, which left me in awe. The char-grilled chicken thigh was cooked to perfection, offering a range of flavors due to its varied char. The beef short rib was expertly glazed. But the shaved beef, soaked in marinade, stole the show with its tender, cloud-like texture. The dish was generously portioned, and served with flawlessly cooked white sticky rice and macaroni salad.” – R. King Champion, Digital Creator

FRITO PIE DOG AT KING DOGS
“Not every great meal is fine dining, nor should it be. Some meals, simple though they be, must answer a deeper, ancient, carnal desire. That calls for the Frito pie dog from King Dogs, the downtown Mobile hot dog stand. A flavorful, snappy sausage is showered with French’s onions, crushed Fritos, chili, cheese and a hit of barbecue sauce on a soft bun. Find King Dogs at Cathedral Square nearly every weekend and get yourself a Frito pie dog — best enjoyed after 9 p.m.” – Joseph Brennan, Freelance Filmmaker

DEEP SOUTH PICKLED GULF SHRIMP AT PROVISION
“Dining out in downtown Fairhope is such a treat, but Chef Will Hughes always gives me one more reason to love his menu when I stop into Provision. I thoroughly enjoyed a whole order of his Deep South pickled Gulf shrimp, which highlighted citrus and laurel marinated gulf shrimp, capers, celery seed and avocado mash, all served chilled on grilled bread and topped with homemade pickled red onion, chili crunch and balsamic drizzle. I could have eaten the drizzle with a spoon!” – Ashley Bonner, Attorney

GRILLED CHICKEN BANH MI PANINI AT PANINI PETE’S
“I love a good sandwich for lunch and Panini Pete’s has one that I have recently enjoyed ordering: the grilled chicken banh mi panini. The sandwich features grilled chicken, pickled vegetables, garlic aioli, jalapenos, cilantro and a sweet soy glaze, all on their warm focaccia. The sandwich is served hot, and the pickled carrots, radishes and cucumbers add the perfect pop. Their shoestring fries are the best side to order, too!” – Turner Eleazer, Middle School Coordinator, Young Life Eastern Shore
