Anna Helen Flock and Joshua Marvin Aikens were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on April 28, 2018, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Reverend Chris Boutin and Deacon Ernest Johnson officiated. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Chamblin Flock. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Marvin Aikens III.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a tulle Anne Barge A-line gown with a bateau neckline and Chantilly and Alencon lace appliques accompanied by a cathedral length, lace-trimmed veil. She carried an all-white bouquet of peonies, playa blanca and Mikado spray roses, tulips, ranunculas, veronica, sweet peas, stock, seeded eucalyptus and dusty miller by Elizabeth’s Garden.
The bride chose her sister, Eileen Catherine Flock, as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Caroline Ann Alden Holman, Elizabeth Eugenia Lee Holman, Anne Presley McGinn, Sheldon Louise Mills, Tucker Clare Nelson and Katie Dearybury Simmons. Maya Siobhan Post, cousin of the bride, read from the Old Testament, and John Marvin Aikens Jr., grandfather of the groom, read from the New Testament. Music was provided by Melanie Zoghby Cummins, Barbara Flechsenhar, Randy Bolden and Shawn Wright.
The groom chose his father, John Marvin Aikens III, and brother, Eli Thomas Aikens, as best men. Groomsmen were Eric Neil Crosby, Michael Cameron Gann, Michael Mabry Lee and Nicholas David Redfoot.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Bragg-Mitchell Mansion. Guests danced to the sounds of The Entice Band, and The Excelsior Band led a second line parade to send off the bride and groom at the end of the night.
