1. Sugar Rush Donut Company
Where: 4701 Airport Blvd.
When: 6 a.m. Tuesday – Friday | 7 a.m. Saturday – Sunday
What to Get: Sugar Rush’s enormous apple fritter is hard to beat. Apples are diced and reduced in a cinnamon sugar concoction before being loaded into dough, fried and glazed. A close second: the red velvet doughnut. It’s sinfully decadent.
2. Mostly Muffins
Where: 105 Dauphin St.
When: 7:15 a.m. Monday – Friday
What to Get: The Bacon Cheddar Muffin is the most delicious thing you’ll find for less than $2 on any menu in town.

3. FOY Superfoods
Where: 119 Dauphin St.
When: 7:30 a.m. Monday – Friday
What to Get: The Power Paleo Pancakes made with almond flour and flaxseed and topped with pure maple syrup or fresh fruit and honey. Tip: These pancakes also freeze well! Reheat in the toaster for a quick paleo breakfast at home.
4. Cream & Sugar Cafe
Where: 351 George St.
When: 7 a.m. Tuesday – Sunday
What to Get: You can’t go wrong with the famous gumbo and grits or the breakfast burrito stuffed with Conecuh sausage and scrambled eggs. Make sure to grab a cake ball (or two) for an afternoon snack.
5. Panini Pete’s
Where: 102 Dauphin St. • 42 1/2 Section St., Fairhope.
When: 8 a.m. Monday – Friday
What to Get: Pete’s beignets are a given, but if you really want to kick it up a notch, try a Chicken Beignet Slider. It’s like a chicken biscuit…but so much better.
6. Chaleur Method Brew & Espresso
Where: 2100 Airport Blvd.
When: 8 a.m. Monday – Saturday
What to Get: With an endless variety of French-inspired sweets and pastries, it’s hard to pick a favorite. The blackberry, blueberry and cherry financiers are a good place to start. Oh, and don’t forget the coffee. These folks know what they’re doing.
7. Spot of Tea
Where: 310 Dauphin St.
When: 7 a.m. every day
What to Get: Eggs Cathedral, hands down. A grilled English muffin is topped with a crab cake, scrambled eggs and a creamy seafood sauce with grouper and crawfish. Any questions?
