Brittney Vaughn Degnan and Garrett Lee Shackelford were united in marriage at Fairhope United Methodist Church on March 12, 2016. Garrett’s grandfather, The Rev. Dr. Jesse Shackelford, officiated the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Degnan. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven Shackelford.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride walked down the aisle in a Martina Liana crystal-beaded lace gown. Wildflowers designed a bouquet of white garden roses and pink peonies complete with ranunculus and spray roses, all wrapped in her mother’s wedding dress lace.

The bride chose her longtime friend, Erin Eberhard Eger, to be her maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Jessie Huff, Ann Hendrick, Emily Hebert, Holly Bou-Mikael and Baylee Shackelford. The Bridesmaids wore champagne dupioni silk, floor-length dresses by Dessy.
The groom chose Jim McMurray to be his best man. Groomsmen included Zac Lemon, Grant Reaves, Bobby Degnan, Ben McMurray, Jamie Brown and Colin Clarke. The men wore traditional black tuxedos.
Following the ceremony, the couple enjoyed a reception in the Azalea Ballroom at the Grand Hotel, dancing the night away with the band Lucky Town. Guests enjoyed cocktails and Southern favorites, which included shrimp and grits, crab cakes and the Grand’s signature mac and cheese balls. Couture Cakes designed the bride’s four-tiered cake, which was adorned with fresh flowers cascading down. The bakery also created their signature chocolate two-tiered Reese’s peanut butter cake for the groom. The evening was captured by Aimee Reynolds Photography and Robbie Reynolds of RHR Media Productions. What made this day even more special was sharing the day with Garrett’s grandfather, The Rev. Dr. Jesse Shackelford, celebrating his 78th birthday. The bride and groom surprised him at the reception with a strawberry buttercream birthday cake made by Couture Cakes.
The day couldn’t have gone more perfectly thanks to the coordination of Wedding and Events by Jenna Laine. After honeymooning in Antigua, the couple now resides in Corpus Christi, Texas.
