Elizabeth Jane Teel and David Marshall Hibberts were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Opelika, Alabama, on March 17, 2018. Dr. Charles Thomas Carter and Dr. Jeffrey Wayne Meyers officiated the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Dr. Jane Brown Teel and the late Mr. James Jerry Teel Sr. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Van Gregory Hibberts Sr.
Escorted by her brother, the bride wore an Augusta Jones gown of ivory duchess satin with a Sareh Nouri silk bow and cathedral-length tails. She wore her mother’s cathedral-length lace-edged mantilla veil and carried an elegant cascading bouquet of white orchids, white chocolate and Tibet roses, veronica, hydrangeas and stock.
College roommate and sorority sister, Molly Sartwell Hall, was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Sara Catherine Avent, Emily Tyler Bacon, Ashley Brookes Carroll, Morgan Bri’Ann Glusman, Emily Hibberts Kennedy, Claire Walker Jinright, Laura Bell Murphy and Katherine Wilson Teel. The bridesmaids wore platinum silk dresses and carried bouquets of roses, lisianthus, ranunculus and eucalyptus wrapped with soft gold ribbon. To honor the bride’s father, they carried handkerchiefs monogrammed with his initials. Flower girl Mary Walker Jinright wore an heirloom dress and flower halo and carried a kissing ball of ivory roses.
The groom’s brother, Van Gregory Hibberts Jr., was the best man. Groomsmen were Robert Wright Bairstow, Cody Matthew Dorriety, Harris Morgan Dzwonkowski, Daniell Ripley Gilbert, Tyler Hayden Love, Charles Taylor Renfroe, Kyle Matthew Sarra and James Jerry Teel Jr. Junior groomsmen were Bennett Hughes Gwaltney and Robert Graham Gwaltney. The groom and groomsmen wore black tuxedos with feather bow ties which were a gift from the groom. The boutonnieres were ranunculus accented with dusty miller and eucalyptus. Ring bearers John Hampton Avent and Brigham Delmar Butts each carried a pillow made from family heirloom laces.
The church altar featured a dramatic floral arrangement, candelabra and greenery. Ceremony music included selections provided by the organist, pianist, trumpeter, violinist and vocalists. A reception followed with an evening of dinner and dancing at the Moore’s Mill Club in Auburn. Beautiful hydrangea topiaries stood at the entrance, and the focal point was the seven-tiered bride’s cake atop a flower-covered table. Pavilion centerpieces featured white orchids, roses and hydrangeas adorning silver candelabras, while the garden tables were accented with orchid trees. The couple’s first dance under crystal and floral chandeliers was captured by a live event artist. After a honeymoon to Grenada, the couple resides in Mobile.
