OCTOBER 4-7: Alabama Coastal Birdfest
Various Locations
Thu – Sat, times vary. Explore regional birding hotspots, attend workshops and more. The free Bird and Conservation Expo will be held at 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center on Saturday.

OCTOBER 5-31: Scarecrows in the Gardens
Bellingrath Gardens and Home
Check out the creative scarecrows and be sure to vote on your favorite.

OCTOBER 5-31:  The Edgar Alan Poe Experience
Historic Oakleigh House Museum
Thu – Sat 7 and 9 p.m., Sun 7 p.m. Watch Edgar Allan Poe’s most iconic characters come to life during his final days in this four-part cocktail experience. Ticket prices vary. 

OCTOBER 7: “Eclectic” Ballet

OCTOBER 7: 1940s Day
USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park
Sat 8:00 a.m. History comes to life with WWII reenactors during their fall drill. Wear a 1940’s costume to receive half off admission. Enjoy a performance of the Blue Anchor Belles performing hits from the era. 

OCTOBER 7: Bay Area Brunch Fest

Sat 10 a.m – 2 p.m. Sample brunch foods from popular local breakfast joints, sip mimosas, play lawn games and listen to live music. Tickets start at $20.

OCTOBER 8: Founder’s Day Concert
Henry George Park, Fairhope
Sun 5:00 p.m. Watch the sunset over the Bay at this free concert courtesy of the Baldwin Pops. 

OCTOBER 12: Grilled Cheese Meltdown
Cathedral Square
Thu 5 – 8:30 p.m. Teams compete to see who can make the best grilled cheese concoction in this fundraiser for the Urban Emporium. Tickets: $10.

OCTOBER 12 – 15: The 50th Annual National Shrimp Festival
Gulf Shores
Thu – Sat 10 a.m. – 10 p.m., Sun 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the fest with live music, arts and crafts vendors, contests, food vendors and more.

Fri – Sun. Former pilots and mechanics of these spy planes hold discussion panels, demonstrations and cockpit tours. Tickets included in cost of admission. 

OCTOBER 13-29: “39 Steps”

Fri and Sat 7:30 p.m., Sun 2 p.m. In this Alfred Hitchcock play a man with a mundane life finds himself
entangled with a mysterious organization. Tickets: $20.

OCTOBER 14: Port City Blues Festival
Mobile Civic Center
Sat 7 p.m. Performances by Tucka, King George, Calvin Richardson, Willie Clayton, Pokey Bear, Ronnie Bell and J-Wonn. Tickets start at $59.

OCTOBER 14: Woofstock
Oyster City Brewing Company
Sat 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. This fundraiser for the Animal Rescue Fund has dog costume contests, a pie eating contest
for pooches and weiner dog races.

OCTOBER 19-22: Greek Fest
Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church
Thu, Fri and Sat 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., Sun 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Celebrate Greek culture with church tours, food, music, vendors, dances and more. Free admission.

OCTOBER 20-22: Gulf Coast Fungi Festival
Weeks Plantation, Fairhope
Fri – Sun A weekend of mycology-themed fun and live music. Attend guided foraging tours, lectures,
cooking demonstrations and more.

OCTOBER 21: “The Goonies”
Exploreum Science Center
Sat 5 – 9 p.m. In addition to the film there will be a treasure hunt through the Fear Exhibit, prizes and more. 21+ and BYOB. Tickets: $12 in advance or $15 the day of the event.

OCTOBER 21: SABC Car Show
Fairhope United Methodist Church
Sat 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. The South Alabama British Car Club showcases their classic cars, along with food vendors and more.

OCTOBER 21: Enchanted Forest
7159 McIntyre St. Fairhope
Sat 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. Forest games, food trucks, a concert, and trunk-or-treat stations raise money for Nature Connect’s scholarship fund. Tickets: $10 for prepaid adults and $15 at the door. Kids are free.

OCTOBER 21: Joe Bullard Wine on the River
Battleship Memorial Park
Sat 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Taste wine from around the world while enjoying
live music. Ticket prices start at $55 and include a donation to Aubreigh’s Army Foundation.

OCTOBER 21: Night at the Museum
The History Museum of Mobile
Sat 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Games, crafts, live music, a costume contest, delicious treats and more. Tickets: $5. 

OCTOBER 24: The Head and the Heart

OCTOBER 27-29: Jurassic Quest

Fri Noon – 8 p.m., Sat 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sun 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Observe a herd of life-size animatronic dinosaurs including apatosaurus, spinosaurus, and, naturally, a t-rex. Tickets start at $19. 

OCTOBER 27 and 29: The Marriage of Figaro
The Temple Downtown
Fri 7:30 p.m. and Sun 2:30 p.m. The Mobile Opera presents this comedy of scandals, schemes and weddings. 

OCTOBER 28: Mobtober Fest
James Seals Community Center and Park
Sat 3 p.m. – 9 p.m. Bouncy castles, dog and human costume contests, live music and, of course, trick-or-treating. 

OCTOBER 28: Elberta German Sausage Festival
Elberta Town Park
Sat 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Dance the polka, eat some delicious sausage, ride the carnival rides and browse the wares of over 200 vendors in this free event.

OCTOBER 28: Boo at Bellingrath
Bellingrath Gardens and Home
Sat 1 p.m- 6 p.m. Trick-or-treating, food trucks and fun in the gardens, all followed by a showing of “Halloweentown” Tickets: $17 adults, $11 children 5 – 12, and free 4 and under.
