Ceremony at Central Presbyterian Church (New York, NY)
Reception at The Colony Club (New York, NY)
Olivia and Bill’s wedding combined refined romance, Southern elegance, Old Hollywood glamour, and, naturally, ballet. Their shared love of the art first bonded the author/screenwriter and the New York City Ballet (NYCB) soloist, a fitting start to their love story.
An enchanting color palette of soft ballet pink, ivory and white bathed the ceremony and reception in ballet-bridal beauty. The native Mobile bride and her mother enlisted the expertise of several vendors in her hometown area for the wedding day in Manhattan, the groom’s hometown. The guest’s first introduction to the weekend began with soft ballet-pink save-the-dates, and heirloom engraved invitations followed, all designed by Soiree Signatures in Mobile and printed by Bella Figura in New York.
As the bridal party got ready, the bride wore a flowing nightgown paired with a matching peignoir by Lilies and Lace by Toodles Dorgan in Fairhope. Dorgan, who specializes in children’s clothing, also made both flower girls’ white organdy dresses, featuring lily-of-the-valley embroidery and pink slips underneath. The bride’s bun was styled by her sister, Mary Thomas, also a soloist at NYCB, who often styles the bride’s hair before her performances.

English garden roses mirroring tutus filled Central Presbyterian Church, accompanied by sweet peas, rosebuds and lily of the valley, while camellia and magnolia foliage added a Southern touch. As the first bars of “Nutcracker Pas de Deux” filled the air, the bride made her entrance on the arm of her father, processing down the aisle in a tulle and French lace gown custom-made by Mobile dressmaker Maggie Outsey. Her bridal bouquet was wrapped with fabric and tulle from retired costumes from Balanchine’s ballet “Diamonds,” and an additional nod to the production was present in the bride’s earrings, estate diamond clusters with pear and marquise cuts, gifted to her by her parents. After the couple said their vows, they exited the church to “A Midsummer Night’s Dream Wedding March” as wedding bells rang overhead. Outside, joyous guests showered them in rose petals, a moment that became one of the bride’s favorites from the day.
At the Colony Club reception, a live 12-piece band played in the ballroom as guests took to tables, each named after one of the couple’s favorite ballets, for a seated dinner. The newlyweds shared their first dance to the waltz from “The Princess Dairies,” choreographed by Mary Thomas. The hand-sewn fabric on the bride’s dress twirled along with her as she held a loop hidden in the floral lace, mimicking the “last waltz” in Balanchine’s “Vienna Waltzes.” A combined father-daughter and mother-son dance was held to “The Way You Look Tonight.” The floor then opened to all, as jazzy tunes mixed with renditions of “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Stars Fell on Alabama.” A five-tier, 1960s-inspired wedding cake featured pillars, intricate piping and a dancing porcelain bride and groom topper gifted by the groom’s mother.
After hours of dancing, speeches and laughter, the bride changed into another Outsey original, a fitted column dress in full Italian lace over pink charmeuse, accented with an organza wrap, envelope clutch and long white gloves. The new Mr. and Mrs. Keenan dashed through silver streamers to their white Rolls-Royce Princess, ready to embark on their Italian honeymoon and new life together.
